in…frared

I have had a camera for as long as I remember and I enjoyed capturing the views, the faces, the memories. But I also longed for new ways of seeing things, I didn’t want to copy what I have already seen. A couple of years ago I came across an infrared photography. It took me some time to fulfill the dream of doing it myself, I read a lot about the possibilities it gives and I finally managed to collect the necessary equipment (Fujifilm X-Pro1 with IR filter). When I was planning my three months trip to Asia, I knew I had to find a way to show these countries from a different angle. Infrared allowed me not only to show the lights, the structures, the contrasts but also to keep these places empty. Even people who have lived there for years, find it difficult to recognise the places they know. Especially when the cities and the palm trees seem to be covered with snow… This is what inspired the theme of my exhibition – Winter in Asia. I was happy to see that these photos are perceived as unique, not obvious because our minds cannot easily read the disruption – until you understand that you are looking at the light which is invisible for the human eye. This is why I would like to share it with you, to inspire the photographers to create their own reality, to show you how I see the world that you may have spotted.
